How to Prepare for Cycling Competitions

With the spread of cycling, there are many proofs are long they are worth participating in. The evidence can be a very rewarding experience, but it is important to give attention to some points to have a good performance.

How to Prepare for Cycling Competitions

1. Registration

On the registration site you will find categories such as age, dual, or dual-mixed. In most of the events, the circuit is divided into two parts: Tourism and Pro.

The circuit of Tourism is generally smaller, and are geared for those who are just starting to compete and want to gain experience. Already the pro circuit probably a little more complicated, and is where are people more focused on the race.

You can choose the category you want. If you are riding for 20 years does not need to be ashamed to go on the circuit of tourism, because regardless of the category you will still be competing.

If it is your first race, give preference to to go in the travel category, because the dispute will be smaller and you can take advantage of the moments of the event and gain experience.

2. Grab the kit of the proof as before

Pick up the kit of a proof can be stressful. In most cases it is already necessary to get in a queue, and if you are to leave to the last minute can be even worse.

Remember that you will always have people that will stop to pick up the kit in the last hour, and this will result in queues more crowded.

Take the kit as soon as possible, if you can grab it on the previous day, so you’ll have more time to do a warm up before the race and without having concerns.

With the kit in hand, attach the label signaling with their numbering on the bike, and look just where is the tracking chip.

3. Learn what is to come in the race

Make a study of the evidence as soon as possible. See the asymmetry and what type of terrain. If it is a proof-of – Mountain Biking, for example, depending on the terrain the bike will need a tyre and different and a calibration is more appropriate.

Find out where are the points of hydration, so you will be able to better plan a strategy of hydration.

4. Ask

Participants who have already participated in the past can give you some hint. For example, if it makes a difference to pinch in the climb.

This information can be very useful, and the participating veterans can provides it.

5. Notice the other athletes

See how the other athletes are organized. Note that they take to the evidence, it may be important to you also consider.

For example, if an athlete takes two air chambers can mean that the terrain is sharp and the tire can stick.

6. Prepares physically

The cycling already requires a lot of muscles, even more the Mountain Bike that requires a lot of cadence and force on the swivel. This is why it is very important to keep the workouts in the day.

Feed yourself well, and have a good preparation and a good workout. These actions will help you to complete the course with efficiency. Make a meal and hydration pre-proof

7. Condition your brain

Part of your resistance is in the brain. It is important to have a strong mind in a competition, and it is exercised in practice.

Stay long hours on the bike is a work that requires much effort of the mind also. Face the heat, rain, and uneven terrain can be quite exhausting.

Be mentally prepared helps a lot and will help you to complete the test and achieve the expected results

8. Adjust your expectations

You need to be according to what you can do in a race. If you know that you can’t keep a certain pace and I decided to try to keep track of a platoon strong, may harm themselves.

Put into practice what you have trained. Do not try to overcome their expectations at the time of the proof, if you know you cannot stay among the top 10, adjust your expectations to be among the top 20, for example.

Do your best, stay on your pace and dose your force. It is much more rewarding you get to the end of a race as well, and in a good place than try to overcome their personal goal and fail.

9. Enjoy all the moments

Enjoy all the moments of the race, from the scenery to the difficulties.

Remember why you are competing. The important thing is you are having fun, even if it is a really difficult look for, the fun of it.

10. A check-up

Check if all the components on the bike are working well. Watch out for the group marches and the exchange, both need to be well regulated, lubricated and cleaned. This way you will have a shift very lightweight need.

See if the tires are in good quality. Let it very clean, without any cutting on the side and keep the pressure on him always as well regulated. See if the hoops do not have cracks and if the rays are not ever.

Hold the life span of the bike to avoid having mishaps.

Don’t change anything on the eve of the race. The configuration used in the walks and workouts should be the same in the evidence. If you want to use a handlebars new, or a position of different table, sure to test this before the race. Do this On the day of the event will be able to harm you.

11. Improve your resistance

There is a relationship between force and resistance. If you do not have good strength therefore does not have a good resistance.

To increase resistance, you need to gradually increase the time that you want to go. For example, if you want to reach the goal of riding 5 hours, start walking 3 hours, and strengthen gradually.

Do not increase one day after another. If you traveled 3 hours on 1 day, for example, on the following day to scroll through 2 hours and in the other the day after, 3 hours and 30 minutes.

If you do not have availability, adjust these hours of training over the weekend. The quality will not be the same, but the important thing is not to stop doing.

Do this until you can reach your brand, but remember that workouts need to be progressive and slow. Thus, you will prepare your body for workouts longer and more difficult

Not wanted to do everything at once, if not you may have problems. Your muscles can not withstand a workout routine with 5 to 6 hours journey. In this case the muscle strengthening helps a lot.

If you do not like going to the gym, do workouts at home. Strengthen the abdomen and the arms, this will add to your performance on the bike.

12. Starting

Have patience in the start. No need to despair, remember that you’re in a marathon and that they are not won in the first few miles. So don’t spend all your energy early on, if not will be exhausted and will be left behind.

So if positions very well, if you’re unsure, try to stay on the edges, so will have a little more security. Do not stay in the middle and in the front of the field starting if it is your first race, because some of the caterpillars tend to be aggressive.

If you are beginner try to stay from the middle to the end, even though the categories are separated that way you will not have so many problems.

Tips for evidence of Mountain Biking

If you are participating in a proof-of-mountain biking, it is important to be aware of the following tips:

1.Pay close attention on the ground

The terrain can be very irregular, so search paths on the trails where the bike will have more traction to proceed.

Pay attention to the ditches of the land, and if it is worth to spend for them. Often the trench can be very narrow, and the wheel be hitting. If there is no other way, try to get in and go without pedaling.

2. Descents

When you are down, stay well aware of what is the best time to do the overtaking. Be careful, if you are too close to the front wheel of another competitor may be risky.

Always look ahead on the trails technical. Do not despair, it might not be only venturing out.

3. Trails

On the evidence it is very important you stay in the lines, however, if you find another with fewer competitors may be more advantageous to follow it.

Stay tuned only if this line does not there are many obstacles, such as rocks and roots, it will require more effort from you and this can get in the way.

However, the calibration of the tire can make a lot of difference in this case. Also, try to project your body to the front of the bike, this can help a lot.

4. Land

In terrain, such as gravel, try to increase the cadence. This way you will have more traction to pass.

On the way, note the layout in that there are more people passing, probably because the stones are more compressed and will facilitate the passage.
